The Easter Bunny

I tried to get Sam's picture taken with the Easter Bunny last week. I had to pose with him because when I tried to set him on the Easter Bunny's lap, he gripped on so tightly and just said "no, no, no, no". Do you blame him?! Look at that bunny!

Last Friday

Here are some pictures from my last day at the elementary school with the kiddos. I worked with nine separate groups throughout each day, so each group had a little party complete with games and cupcakes. Each of the kids made me a homemade card too - so sweet!

101 Dalmatians

101 Dalmatians is BY FAR Sam's favorite book right now. When given a chance to pick out his own book, this is it. Sometimes, if I try to read him something else, he'll say "no, no, no, goggies" (aka "doggies"), and then he'll hand me this book. What makes this book cool, besides having lots of dogs in it, is that this was my book when I was a kid, as evidenced below. Now, this particular copy was printed in 1974. Our guess is that more recent printings of this great story do not have Cruella DeVille and the owner of the dalmations smoking in the illustrations. My how times have changed!

Anyway, we will continue to read this to Sam on a daily basis, that is, until he decides that something ELSE is his favorite:-)

Student Teaching - Half Way Done!

So, apparently I'm not very good at keep up with this blog while also working. Sorry! Well, tomorrow is my last day at my elementary school placement. I have next week off for spring break (and I PROMISE to put up a few posts), and then I start my middle school placement on March 30th. Whew! It's going by fast, but I'm really enjoying it, and it definitely feels like it is the right fit for me (which I'm sure makes Peter let out a sigh of relief after all the time and money I've spent on this degree!). I hope those of you in Minnesota have been enjoying our spring weather!

Sam LOVES to play with Play-doh
Reading is another favorite activity

He even reads the Sunday circular!
He recently chose this as a spot to rest once in awhile.
I suppose it is a perfect fit for him!

Grandpa and Uncle Reed tried some gel in his hair.
He needed a bath afterwards.

In Memory of Holly

My aunt and godmother, Holly Titus, lost her battle with cancer yesterday at the young age of 45. It's been a whirlwind week since it was just discovered she had cancer on Monday. Our thoughts and prayers are with my uncle Larry and my cousins Ryan, Jessie, and Josh and their families. Holly had a big heart, always put her family first, and could make anyone laugh at any time. I'm grateful that I had the chance to visit with her this past December when she was home for Christmas. She will be dearly missed.

The Cat in the Hat

Well, we got a new computer a couple weeks ago, and for some reason, there seems to be a problem when we try to load the Kodak picture software onto it. So, it may be a bit before I can put some pictures up. Sorry!

I'm almost done with my elementary student teaching placement, then I'm off to the middle school level. Last week we celebrated Dr. Seuss's birthday at school. One of my students came up to me, looking very confused, holding a Dr. Seuss book. Here is the conversation that took place:

Student: I don't get it.
Me: What don't you get?
Student: Is Dr. Seuss still alive?
Me: No, he's not alive anymore, but we still celebrate his birthday because he wrote so many great books for us.
Student: How old would he be?
Me: (I google this information to find out out he WOULD have been 105, which really impresses the student).
Student: Well, I still don't get it. (long pause) How could he write books if he was a cat? I didn't think cats knew how to write.
Me: That is a very good question. Dr. Seuss was not really a cat. He was a man that wrote books about cats and other fun things we like to read about.
Student: Oh, you mean this isn't Dr. Seuss (student points to the Cat in the Hat).
Me: Nope, that is the Cat in the Hat. He is a character in a book Dr. Seuss wrote, but that's not Dr. Seuss. Would you like to see a picture of the real Dr. Seuss?
Student: Yes!!!
Me: (I google him again and find the pic below on good 'ole wikipedia) Here's a picture of the real Dr. Seuss.
Student: Oh, so he's not a cat!

I'm just glad I cleared this up for her before she moves onto third grade:-)
