An Exciting Day!

So, Sam's little adventure to Buffalo Wild Wings did not go as smoothly as we had hoped. We met some family and friends there, and we think he was overstimulated from all the noise and getting passed around from person to person. Peter and I had to take shifts dealing with a crying baby in the car for close to an hour before he calmed down enough to go back inside. That's pretty unusual for him, so we think he's not a fan of buffalo wings! I guess we'll wait a bit before we try the restaurant thing again. We were excited though that Reed and his girlfriend, Sarah, also stopped by. It was great to see them since they don't get a chance to make it up from Mankato too often.

Anyway, onto today! It started out pretty normal. I was working on homework while Peter and Samuel were hanging out and playing together. Then, with it being such a beautiful fall day, we decided to take Oscar to the dog park. We used to do this much more often, but since Sam has been born, it's usually just Peter and Oscar that go. Today, Sam and I got to go to! We all had a good time and enjoyed some fresh air.

When we got home from the dog park, my sister Amy called to say she got engaged!!!!! We can't wait to see them tomorrow when we get together to watch the Vikings game (and yes, we will accept Luke into the family even though he is a Packers fan!!!). Congratulations to them both. We are very excited!

Happy Friday!

Happy Friday to everyone! Sam and I are having a pretty low key day at home just hanging out and picking up the house. We can put a big blanket on the floor now with Sam at one end. He will roll over and over again all the way to the other side of the blanket, then we flip him around and he goes back the other way. He can do it pretty fast (for a baby)! It's just funny that he can only seem to go continuously in one direction!

Yesterday, we went to our ECFE class and had lots of fun singing songs and playing with friends. Sam has a little friend there by the name of Wyatt James, which is ironically the same name of Sam's little cousin! Normally Sam has a difficult time at ECFE because it is during his nap time, but yesterday he had an early nap and was all smiles during the whole class. Woohoo! It's fun for me too to get out of the house and to get a chance to talk with other moms as well.

Last night I also starting a new class for my masters degree. It's been a busy semester, but we're half way through and still surviving! I really am enjoying my classes, and I think becoming a teacher is going to be a great fit for me. Tonight we are headed to Buffalo Wild Wings for dinner. This will only be Sam's second attempt at a real restaurant, so we are keeping our fingers crossed. The first attempt involved some crying and an early departure!

A Birthday Card from Samuel

Yesterday I received the sweetest birthday card from little Samuel. This is what it said:
Mom,
I know we don't talk much, mainly because I can't yet, but I want you to know that I love you very much. I haven't met all the moms in the world, but I'm sure you're the best, or at least top ten. You're great at making me laugh and helping me feel better when I'm sad. I can't wait until I'm bigger, and I can make you birthday presents from macaroni noodles, construction paper, and little glittery things. Well, dad needs my help cleaning the garage so I should go. I love you and I hope you have a great birthday!
Love,
Samuel
P.S. Isn't it weird how much my handwriting looks like Dad's?! Genetics are neat!

Oscar helping with homework

This is from last week, but I just had to add it in here. I was working on a big paper for my assessment course, and after leaving the room for a few minutes, I found Oscar at my desk when I came back. Okay, I admit, Peter and I posed him a little bit for the actual picture, but it was still pretty funny to see him at the computer!

Our First Post!

We created this blog so we can keep in touch with friends and family, especially those of you who are far away, so you can see what we are up to and how little Sam is growing! He will be five months old this week already. Wow - time sure flies by! He is a joy. He rolls over both ways now, loves to play with his feet, and has the sweetest little giggle, which is the single greatest sound in the world! Here are some pictures from our little weekend excursion to Gerten's greenhouse. It was a beautiful, sunny day, and we think Sam had a good time!
