Friday and Snow on the Way!

Well, here we are at the end of another week. Sam and I started the winter session of our ECFE class yesterday. A bunch of our old friends were there along with three new babies as well. It's so fun to see how all the babies are growing and starting to actually interact with each other! We are finally supposed to get some snow this weekend, and I must admit, I'm excited for it. By the end of January, I won't be saying that anymore! We put the Christmas tree up this week, though I'll have to wait until it is dark so I can get a better picture of the tree. Sam discovered the tree while rolling around on the floor yesterday. He also got a Baby's First Christmas ornament from Grandpa Gary and Grandma Peach when we went to Gerten's with them last weekend. It's so cute! He really loves being in his exersaucer, or "command post," these days, and he especially loves chewing on the "cell phone" that is attached.

Congratulations to Lance and Steph, my cousin and his wife, who welcomed little Ava into the world this week. We can't wait to meet her. That makes three sweet little girls for them. Maybe they'll try for a fourth and end up with a boy like my family! Also, Happy Birthday today to Grandpa Kenny, Sam's great-grandfather!

Sam's First Thanksgiving

We celebrated Sam's first Thanksgiving by going to my Mom and Dad's place. There was a group of 18 of us there, and after everyone was done eating, we all watched as Sam enjoyed his first Thankgiving meal, squash, which is also his first taste of vegetable! It was a hit!! Below is also evidence that I really did make the pies - I went with pumpkin and pecan, and I didn't hear any complaints, so I guess they turned out okay.

On Friday, Peter's parents came down to spend the weekend with us, and it was great to see them. We checked out all of the holiday decorations at Gerten's, and Sam got a chance to meet Santa too! He was pretty tired after the big event.

Last week we also spent some time visiting Great-Grandma Helen and Great-Grandpa Kenny. Grandma pulled out a bunch of toys for Sam to play with that I remember from when I was little. We had a great visit!

As for today, Samuel is officially six months old. Happy 1/2 Birthday to our little guy (and to Grandpa Gary!). We hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend.

Three days until Turkey Day...

It's been awhile since we posted, mostly because the camera was missing for a few days, so we didn't have any new pictures to post. A big thank you goes to Candy and Jeremy for watching Sam on Saturday while Peter and I attended Rob and Sarah's wedding. We had a good time, but we sure missed the little guy! Sam has started to regularly eat rice cereal now, and he really likes it. We haven't put together the high chair yet, but here he is in his travel high chair that aunt Candy gave him.
Sam is taking a nap right now, but here's a pic I
snapped just before he went to sleep:-)
I have two of my three classes cancelled this week due to the Thanksgiving holiday, so Sam and I are keeping ourselves busy. Earlier today we had a little play date with Sam's friends, Grace and Wyatt, from our ECFE class. Tomorrow we are going to visit Great-Grandma Helen and Great-Grandpa Kenny. Then on Wednesday we are going to visit Grandma Kim during her lunch break at work. We will be spending Thanksgiving at my parents' house, and I'm in charge of making the pies, so if anyone has any great recipes, please send them my way. On Friday, Peter's parents will be coming to stay with us for the weekend. They have been in Florida for the last month, so we are excited to see them, and I'm sure they are excited to see how much Sam has grown. Speaking of the little guy, he will be six months old on Sunday. I can't believe it, but at the same time, I can't even remember what life was like before he was here! On another happy note, Amy and Luke set their wedding date - October 18, 2008. Now the planning begins!

TGIF

It's been a pretty busy week at our house. Sam has learned two new things. The first is that he can now sit by himself without support for sometimes up to a minute. The second is that he has discovered how to shriek. He thinks this is really funny. He started this on Sunday, and at first Peter and I were concerned. Then we realized that if we gave him attention while he was letting out his high-pitched squeal, he would immediately start smiling and giggling. So he has just discovered a great attention-getting method!

Have a good weekend everyone!

The weekend is almost over...

Sam got to spend some quality time with Grandma and Grandpa D. on Friday night. Peter and I went over to Candy and Jeremy's place and played Mafia. For those of you who have never played, it's a murder mystery sort of game, and it's a lot of fun (although Karine might disagree)! There were 21 people there, and we played until after 2 in the morning. Thanks, Mom and Dad for watching Sam!

Today was a typical Sunday, church, picking up the house, homework for me and football for Peter (and the Vikes finally won again!). We just enjoyed a little spinach lasagna for dinner, and now it's time for a haircut for Oscar!

Thanks to Aunt Marti and Uncle Fred who sent Sam some adorable Winnih the Pooh stuffed animals last week. He loves them! Also thanks to my Mom's friend, Karen, who made this beautiful pillow for Samuel.
