So Sweet

I LOVE this picture! Sam really loves having Charlie around, and Charlie loves to smile and coo at Sam. Here, you can see how much our little one already admires his big brother.

SamTalk

Sam is not allowed to play with pretend guns at daycare. We have extended this rule to our house as well. Sam knows that if he pretends he has a gun then he gets a time-out. Yesterday while playing with legos, Sam built something that quite resembled a gun. He was then pointing it around the room making shooting noises. This was our conversation:

Me: SAM! What are you playing with!?
Sam: (looking me straight in the eye) It's NOT a gun.
Me: Well, what is it?
Sam: It's a toy.
Me: What kind of toy?
Sam: A lego toy.

Sigh...

Potty training seems to go perfectly well for Sam at daycare, but at home, he is often less than interested. At daycare, he gets an M&M for using the potty chair, so we have been trying the same tactic at home. One night, while I was cleaning the bathroom, he wanted to go potty and did so. Afterwards, he was waiting in the doorway and said "Why are you doing all that cleaning when you should be getting me an M&M. What's that all about?"

We're working on asking for things "nicely"!

Conversation with a Kindergartener

Student: (while pointing at his tooth) I think there's a cavity in there.
Me: Oh, no!
Student: After school, I'm going to get into a fight.
Me: (sounding alarmed) What do you mean?! Why! With who!?
Student: (in a matter-of-fact tone) With my tooth. I have to brush it to fight the cavity.
Me: (relieved) Ohhh! I hope you win that fight!

Happy Easter

Sam ran into our room at just after six this morning with an egg in each hand and said "Mommy, I found Easter eggs in mine room!" The Easter Bunny decided to outfit our entire family with some Twins gear. Now we just need to make a trip to the new Target Field! What a nice little bunny!
After church we headed to Amy and Luke's house for another Easter egg hunt for Sam, a delicious ham dinner, and some beautiful weather to enjoy with family.

Just a little update...

Charlie will be 11 weeks old on Monday! Time is just flying by. He's interacting so much more know and smiling and cooing a lot. When he does this, Sam says, "Charlie is saying funny words". Very true, Sam, very true. He was 11 1/2 pounds and 23 1/2 inches long at his two month appointment a couple weeks back. When people meet him for the first time they comment on how tiny he is, but he seems so big to me already!

I went back to work this past Monday. It was hard to leave the boys, but I really enjoy my job and missed my students, so it was fun to work with them again. Since Sam's daycare was closed for spring break this week, Peter got to take a week of vacation time and hang out with the boys at home. I was a little jealous, but hey, I've had lots of time to do this, and will every summer, so I'm glad Peter got the chance this week. My three boys went to the park, the library, the zoo, Toddler Tuesday at the MOA, and had a visit from Grandpa and Grandma as they drove through town on the way home from Florida. What a week!

Sam starts back at daycare on Monday, and we are lucky to have Peter's mom watch Charlie until the end of my school year so he won't have to start daycare until the fall. We are so grateful for the wonderful gift of her help. Thank you, Peach!

Dyeing Easter Eggs

Sam had the choice between a blue basket, a green and yellow basket, and a pink and purple basket. He picked the pink and purple basket. I tried to convince him that one of the others might be a better choice. Then I realized that I shouldn't force him into gender specific colors, and the pink and purple basket choice prevailed:)
This afternoon Sam was refusing his nap (a common occurence these days). After an hour of goofing around, I told him he needed to go to sleep or I would call the Easter Bunny and tell him not to bring any candy. He was asleep within minutes. Does that make me a bad mom?!?!?
