Under the weather

Our little guy has been feeling a little sick the past two days. He had a pretty high fever yesterday, but that seems to be down today. The upside to him being sick (if there is one) is that he is extremely cuddly, and he has actually let me rock him to sleep three times - which he hasn't done in months! Even though I cherish those cuddly moments, I hope he is back to his old self again soon:-)

Another zoo day!

I decided on a whim this morning to take Sam to the zoo before it gets too cold for the outside exhibits. It did rain on the way there, but after we visited the inside trails, the rain let up and we enjoyed some time outside. He definitely enjoyed this zoo experience more than any other time we've gone because he really gets excited to see the animals now. Once he saw this playground, he starting going nuts pointing and laughing with excitement, so he of course got to climb around a little bit too. For lunch he made it obvious he did not want to sit in his stroller, so I put him in a regular chair, and then he was happy as a lark as he ate his food. We also split an ice cream cone as a special treat, though as to be expected, it was very messy!

So one night when Peter was working and Sam and I were bored, we thought it would be funny to put one of Sam's shirts on Oscar. I don't have it on video, but Sam thought this was just hysterical!

This past weekend was Amy's bachelorette party. We had a little Mexican fiesta at my house and then we headed to Stillwater for the rest of the evening. It was a lot of fun, and we are excited to celebrate the big wedding day in just 25 days!

First Day of School

Yesterday was our first day of ECFE for this year. Sam is in the Tiny Tots class now, which means we have 30 minutes of playtime in the gigantic playroom, 5 minutes of songs, and then 25 minutes in the large motor room where he gets to climb around on all sorts of stuff. Just like last year, he loved watching all of the other kids and playing with new toys! Here is his first official first day of school picture where he is even sporting new fall clothes and shoes...

In the playroom, this was by far his favorite toy. He continually dropped the balls into the top and giggled as he watched them roll down the ramps all the way to the bottom.
In the large motor room, he LOVED this boat. I kept trying to get him to climb through the tunnels and go down the slides, but he kept going straight back to the boat!

Happy 3rd Birthday to Captain Will No-Beard!
We had fun celebrating with you at your Pirate Birthday Party!!!

Busy Weekend

We went to Casey and Kathryn's house on Friday for a Fisher Price playdate and had a wonderful time checking out the new Fisher Price toys. Sam also really liked playing outside in Kathryn's sandbox. He thinks sand is one of the coolest things to ever exist. He sometimes gets upset when I try to take him away from the sand at the park.
On Saturday, Sam got to go to his first parade (and so did Oscar!). He had a lot of fun watching and pointing at everything until the fire trucks came and sounded their sirens. That was pretty scary for the little guy, and he shed a few tears. Since part of the parade experience is catching candy, he did get a few licks of a sucker too!

Saturday night Sam got to spend the night at Grandpa Roy and Grandma Kim's house, while Mom and Dad enjoyed a night out. On Sunday, we went to Cokato to celebrate Will's birthday at a pirate themed party. It was a great chance for Sam to see his cousins once again before they head back to California with Robin to welcome Jack back from Iraq next month.

In other news, Sam has his seventh tooth, has been taking a few more steps, says uh-oh, and tries to mimic any sort of action we make, which is pretty cute. He uses the baby signs for "milk", "eat/hungry", "more", and "all done". It is so awesome that he can communicate with us in that way, and it makes him a lot less frustrated, I'm sure. He also seems to understand so much more now and will get the appropriate item if we ask him to get a ball, a hat, a shoe, a baba, a book, etc. His favorite word is definitely "ball". Of course, anything that is close to round is a "ball" in his eyes - pumpkins, balloons, plates. He has been down to just one nap a day for about a month now, which seems to be working out pretty well, and Oscar is still his favorite playmate.

A Wedding Weekend

We had a busy weekend with a wedding up in Fargo on Saturday for my cousin Rob and his new wife Jaylene, and another wedding back here in the cities on Sunday for Pat and Erin, my sister Amy's good friend from high school. Apparently, the traditional kid's meal at weddings is chicken tenders and French fries, so Sam got to eat that two nights in a row, and he realized French fries are a pretty cool thing! He was also lucky enough to share some wedding cheesecake with Grandpa Roy.
Apparently, all this wedding fun made our little guy tired. So, this is the best we could do for a family picture!
