Busy Weekend

We went to Casey and Kathryn's house on Friday for a Fisher Price playdate and had a wonderful time checking out the new Fisher Price toys. Sam also really liked playing outside in Kathryn's sandbox. He thinks sand is one of the coolest things to ever exist. He sometimes gets upset when I try to take him away from the sand at the park.
On Saturday, Sam got to go to his first parade (and so did Oscar!). He had a lot of fun watching and pointing at everything until the fire trucks came and sounded their sirens. That was pretty scary for the little guy, and he shed a few tears. Since part of the parade experience is catching candy, he did get a few licks of a sucker too!

Saturday night Sam got to spend the night at Grandpa Roy and Grandma Kim's house, while Mom and Dad enjoyed a night out. On Sunday, we went to Cokato to celebrate Will's birthday at a pirate themed party. It was a great chance for Sam to see his cousins once again before they head back to California with Robin to welcome Jack back from Iraq next month.

In other news, Sam has his seventh tooth, has been taking a few more steps, says uh-oh, and tries to mimic any sort of action we make, which is pretty cute. He uses the baby signs for "milk", "eat/hungry", "more", and "all done". It is so awesome that he can communicate with us in that way, and it makes him a lot less frustrated, I'm sure. He also seems to understand so much more now and will get the appropriate item if we ask him to get a ball, a hat, a shoe, a baba, a book, etc. His favorite word is definitely "ball". Of course, anything that is close to round is a "ball" in his eyes - pumpkins, balloons, plates. He has been down to just one nap a day for about a month now, which seems to be working out pretty well, and Oscar is still his favorite playmate.
